“The magic of being able to pause time and go back to a moment over and over again is one of the key things I love about photography. The world goes by in a great blur and re-examining it in a photo offers the chance to slow it all down. The way I choose my subjects relies on this philosophy; I simply shoot anything that I want to stop, collect and examine later.”- Jordan Craig

Jordan Craig discovered photography when a family friend, an accomplished photographer, offered to build a darkroom at his family’s home. His first work was to develop film for his father; painter Philip Craig.

After high school, he and a friend (now his wife) moved to Venice, California, where they lived for two years working in film. Jordan attended the Hollywood Film Institute at Paramount Studios in Hollywood and experimented with super 8 film.

In 1997, he moved back to Ottawa, Canada and started working for ‘Dynomight Cartoons’ where he was the head writer and reference photographer for three seasons of ‘Untalkative Bunny’, an internationally broadcast children’s show. In 1998 Jordan helped produce a short film entitled ’67 Aluminum Plates’ with Pixar Animation director Jan Pinkava, Academy Award winner for ‘Geri’s Game’ and Nominee for ‘Ratatouille’.

Well known for his landscape work as well as portraits and still life, he has photographed the restoration of the Queen Victoria statue for Parks Canada, as well as photography for the Canadian War Museum and the Parliamentary Library. He has photographed many political figures and dignitaries including Laureen Harper; his works are represented in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada and abroad. Jordan has been featured by ‘Ottawa Life Magazine’ and is a contributor to ‘House & Home Magazine’.

Currently Jordan is exploring the manufacture of custom made cameras and lenses in order to gain a new perspective through his photography. Jordan is a mix of artist and engineer that makes his photographs both interesting and technically spectacular.
